Bahías Plus invites you to experience the Day of the Dead celebration in Santa María Huatulco. The tour begins at your hotel, where you will be greeted with a floral offering before departing for the town. During the journey, the tour guide will explain the importance of this tradition. We will walk through the high streets adorned with papel picado (cut-paper decorations), Catrinas (elegant skeleton figures), flower arches, and carpets, until we reach the municipal cemetery. There, we will experience the mingled aromas of flowers, fruit, and copal incense, as well as listen to serenades dedicated to the departed. Afterwards, we will visit the home of a host family who will share the offerings from their traditional altar. We will enjoy a tasting of various mezcals, as well as hot chocolate, egg yolk bread, and black mole. The guide will explain the meaning of each element of the altar. Finally, we will have dinner of Oaxacan tamales and return to your hotel.
