Join me on a journey through Bern’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where medieval streets and historic towers tell the storey of one of Europe’s most fascinating countries.
During this relaxed walking tour we will explore the beautiful streets and arcades of Bern, the de facto capital of Switzerland, while discovering what makes the country so special.
Along the way you will learn about Swiss history, politics, neutrality, direct democracy, the impact of Napoleon, the mentality of the people who live here, the storey of Albert Einstein during the years he lived in Bern and the legend behind the bears, the symbol of the city.
We will visit some of Bern’s most important landmarks such as the Zytglogge Clock Tower, the Federal Palace and Bern Cathedral. We will also walk through one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city, the Matte Quartiernand stroll along the Aare River while enjoying beautiful views of the Old Town.
This tour is more than just sightseeing. It is designed to help you understand how Switzerland works and why the country has been so successful.
Throughout the tour I will share local stories, legends and interesting facts that you will not easily find in guidebooks. There will also be plenty of opportunities to take photos.
This experience is perfect for first-time visitors who want to discover Bern while gaining a deeper understanding of Switzerland.
