Mysterious and Natural Tirana – From urban secrets to the green lung of the city
Tirana is not only a capital in constant transformation; it's a city with layers of history, hidden corners, and green spaces that surprise at every turn. On this free sightseeing tour, I invite you to discover its most human, curious, and natural side.
We start at Skanderbeg Square, the vibrant heart of the city, where you'll see Albania's great symbols: the historic Et'hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the National Museum with its imposing socialist mural, the National Library, the ministries from the Italian era, Bunk'Art 2, and the majestic Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. We'll also explore Tirana Castle, a former walled area now transformed into a charming space with cafes and craft shops, and visit the great Namazgjase Mosque, one of the most important in the Balkans.
We'll walk along the main boulevard until we reach the iconic Pyramid of Tirana, a monument steeped in history and controversy that was originally dedicated to the dictator Enver Hoxha.
Afterwards, we'll enter the famous Blloku district, which during the communist regime was an exclusive area for those in power. There, I'll show you Hoxha's own house and tell you what life was like under the regime's strict control and how everything has changed since its fall.
We'll continue to Mother Teresa Square, home to the Air Albania Stadium, the University of Fine Arts, and the Polytechnic, key centers of Tirana's cultural and educational life.
And to end the tour with an unforgettable contrast, we'll walk to Tirana's Artificial Lake, the city's largest park, considered by locals to be its green lung. Here you can relax, breathe in the fresh air, and see how the people of Tirana enjoy their everyday lives surrounded by nature.
This sightseeing tour is not just a history lesson: it's a living experience where culture, memory, street art, and nature intertwine
