What you can expect

-We need 4 people to make the tour.

Leave the beachy vibe of Mazatlán behind and venture inland to the rural village of El Quelite—nicknamed “The Colonial Pearl”—where you can tour cobbled streets lined with red-roofed houses draped in vibrant bougainvillea, explore the town's history and cuisine, and pop into art galleries.

After being picked up from your hotel, ride towards the agricultural “pueblito” (town) of El Quelite. Nestled at the base of the Sierra Madre mountains, this farming town offers an authentic taste of Mexican life in a charming Spanish colonial setting.

Stroll the narrow streets and admire the quaint and well-preserved colonial homes. Many have been converted into beautiful art galleries and restaurants serving up savoury regional specialities such as spiced meat , machaca, asado barbecue, and chilorio (pork in chilli sauce).

Follow your knowledgeable guide as you learn about the region's primary industries, including the cheese and Mexican chorizo this area is known for. You also have a chance to learn the rules to the ancient Mayan ball game “ulama”, which was played as part of a ritual in pre-Hispanic civilisations and is still enjoyed by the townspeople of El Quelite.

Finally, step into the white, tiled interior of the town's small but pristine 19th-century Lady of Guadalupe church to fully absorb the serenity and quiet of El Quelite before your return to Mazatlán.
