Day 1: Fire Giants and Colonial Gems
We begin with the adrenaline rush of climbing Santa Ana Volcano (Ilamatepec). You will walk through lunar-like landscapes until you reach the rim of the crater to admire its famous turquoise lagoon. Next, we'll stop to admire the majestic Lake Coatepeque from a prime vantage point, and we'll end the day in the Historic Centre of Santa Ana, where you can marvel at its impressive Gothic-style cathedral.
Day 2: In the Footsteps of the Mayans and Heading East
We will spend the day immersing ourselves in the region's ancient history. We will visit iconic archaeological sites such as the pyramids of Tazumal, Joya de Cerén, and San Andrés, gaining an in-depth understanding of the legacy of the Mayan civilisation. After this cultural immersion, we will begin our journey to the eastern part of the country, enjoying the changing scenery along the way.
Day 3: Espíritu de la Montaña and High-Altitude Camping
We will arrive in the department of La Unión to climb Conchagua Volcano to the Espíritu de la Montaña viewpoint. Here, where the sky and the sea seem to meet, you will enjoy a typical Salvadoran dinner with the lights of the Gulf of Fonseca below you. You will enjoy the unique experience of camping above the clouds in a natural, safe environment, under one of the most starry skies in the country.
Day 4: Golden Sunrise and Relaxation by the Pacific
You will wake up to what is, for many, the most beautiful sunrise in Central America, accompanied by a traditional breakfast overlooking the gulf. After enjoying the peace of the mountains, we will descend to the coast to visit the famous El Cuco Beach. You will enjoy its vast sandy expanse and tropical atmosphere before heading back home with memories of epic moments.
