Step back in time and discover the magic of Khiva, one of the most beautifully preserved cities on the ancient Silk Road. I’m Sarvarbek, a local guide born and raised in Khiva, with years of experience sharing my city’s stories, legends, and hidden gems.
Embark on an enriching walking tour through the historic heart of Khiva, where you'll explore the city's most iconic architectural landmarks and cultural treasures. This immersive experience takes you through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Itchan Kala, featuring magnificent madrasahs, colourful minarets, and centuries-old monuments that bring Khiva’s vibrant history to life.
We begin the tour by meeting you at your hotel or at the Ata Darvaza (West Gate) — the grand entrance to the walled city. From there, we visit the Kalta Minor Minaret, a striking, unfinished tower adorned with dazzling turquoise tiles.
Next, we explore the Muhammad Amin Khan Madrasah, once the largest Islamic school in Central Asia, followed by the Kunya-Ark Fortress, the former royal residence offering panoramic views of Khiva’s skyline.
We then continue to the Muhammad Rahim Khan Madrasah, and stop by a traditional wood carving workshop, where you’ll witness the intricate artistry of local craftsmen.
The tour concludes with two architectural highlights:
️ Tosh Hovli Palace – A 19th-century masterpiece with richly decorated courtyards, beautifully tiled halls, and a preserved royal harem.
Juma Mosque – A spiritual gem known for its 213 carved wooden columns, some dating back to the 10th century.
