What you can expect

Day 1: Cusco – Lake Humantay – Quiswarniyoc

After picking up passengers at their respective hotels, we depart from Cusco around 4:45 a.m. and head to the town of Mollepata on a journey of approximately 2 hours.
Upon arriving in Mollepata, we will stop for breakfast, and the 20 soles entrance fee to the local municipality will be paid.
After breakfast, we will continue the journey to the starting point of the hike.
We will begin the hike to Lake Humantay, which takes approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will have plenty of time to explore the area, take photos, and listen to the guide’s explanation of the natural and cultural significance of Lake Humantay.
After enjoying the scenery, we’ll begin the descent to Quiswarniyoc, which takes about 2 hours, where lunch will be served.
In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to rest or explore the surrounding area.

Day 2: Quiswarniyoc – Lake Salkantay (4,630 m) – Cusco

The second day of the trek is one of the most challenging, as you’ll ascend to the highest point of the route to enjoy breathtaking views of the mountains and visit Lake Salkantay.

Very early in the morning, the team will wake you up around 5:00 a.m. with a cup of hot coca tea. You’ll then have time to get ready before a nutritious breakfast, which will be served around 5:45 a.m.

After breakfast, we will begin the hike to the highest point of the route, located at 4,630 metres above sea level. The ascent takes between 3 and 4 hours, maintaining a slow and steady pace.

Once at the summit, you will have time to enjoy the scenery, take photographs, and listen to the guide’s explanation about the Apus, considered the gods of the mountains in Andean tradition.

Afterwards, we will descend for approximately 2.5 hours to the meeting point with the transport. From there, we will return to Mollepata for lunch and then continue the journey back to Cusco.

Arrival in Cusco is scheduled for approximately 6:30 p.m.
