What you can expect
Discover the art of Arabic calligraphy, a highly developed form of expression in the Islamic arts. Learn about the two main styles: the angular Kufic script and the rounder cursive script
Join a master calligrapher to learn the subtle art of handling the Qallam, the traditional calligraphy pen. Enjoy a moment of concentration and serenity as you practice this ancient art form.
Sip on Moroccan tea and savour local pastries as you immerse yourself in the world of Arabic calligraphy.The workshop takes place in our Salon Josephine, on the roof top or in the patio of the Palais, depending on the participants feelings and weather permitting.
The workshop begins with a historical introduction to calligraphy: the art, its variations, its role and evolution over time.
Participants are then invited to try their hand at the art, using pen and ink on paper.
