VIPER-SLIDE: The longest and tallest tube slide in the Alps
At Fort Kniepass in Unken, an absolute adrenaline rush awaits all adventure seekers: the longest tube slide in the Alps at 150 metres and the highest at 56 metres! The VIPER-SLIDE winds spectacularly from the historic fortress down into the valley and offers a unique experience for young and old alike. In comfortable felt beanbags, you first go through a horizontal roundabout at top speeds of up to 35 kilometres per hour before the slide ends in the indoor playground of the visitor centre. The timekeeping on the slide and six different light and sound effects provide additional thrills. Whether in the green jungle, in space, or with disco lights – here everyone can choose the world of lights in which they whiz down the slide. In addition, the fast-paced ride is captured in a photo that can be purchased as a souvenir. The VIPER-SLIDE may only be used by one person at a time; children must be at least 51 inches (130 centimetres) tall. The slide is open in all weathers.
KniePASS Adventure Trail: Exciting and Historical Information on the Subject of Borders
Fort Kniepass has been a border post on the route between Austria and Germany since the 14th century. Not least for this reason, the adventure trail, which climbs approximately 55 metres from the valley up to and through the fortifications of Fort Kniepass, deals with the topic of “borders.” Equipped with the “KniePASS” booklet, visitors pass through twelve stations as they ascend to the fortification. At these stations, the different types of borders are discussed and the history of the topic of borders is told. This gives adults, teenagers, and children the opportunity to grapple with their own boundaries. Since the adventure trail also leads through the old fortification, visitors also immerse themselves in the history of the Kniepass. There is a special game for children: In their “KniePASS,” they collect rock pictures and solve puzzles. At the end of the trail, which takes about one to one and a half hours, visitors are invited to evaluate their personal “KniePASS” and learn how they themselves deal with borders. The “KniePASS” adventure trail is a captivating mix of culture, reflection, and adventure and an experience for the whole family, for individual tourists, school groups, or company outings.
