What you can expect

  • Day 1: Antananarivo to Sambava
    Fly to Sambava, a region known for its high biodiversity. Meet your guide at the airport and stroll along the waterfront in this small town, famous for its vanilla, coconut, rice, and coffee production. Discover the world's largest coconut grove, covering nearly 5,000 hectares.

    Days 2 to 5: Marojejy National Park
    Hike through Marojejy National Park, a rugged granite massif with sharp ridges and jagged peaks. Trek from banana trees to alpine shrubs, passing tree ferns and ficus trees. Spot the Silky Sifaka, known for its creamy-white fur. Enjoy 5 to 7 hours of hiking each day, with meals organised for you.

    Day 6: Manantenina to Sambava
    Travel from Manantenina to Sambava, taking in the lush landscapes along the way.

    Days 7 & 8: Sambava to Daraina to Ankarana
    Drive to Vohemar, a small town nestled in a lush bay. Continue to the Daraina Reserve to see the golden-crowned sifaka, an endemic lemur species. Travel to Ambilobe and then to Mahamasina, the eastern gateway to the Ankarana Massif. Cover 350 km over 2 days, with meals arranged for you.

    Day 9: The Tsingy of Ankarana
    Explore the limestone massif of Ankarana, resembling a stone forest. Hike through sharp-edged Tsingy formations and caves, including the Bat Cave. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the “Water Loss,” a huge sinkhole in the riverbed. In the afternoon, hike to the Tsingy Rary and the footbridge over the canyon.

    Day 10: Red Tsingy and Diego Suarez
    Drive towards Joffreville, visiting the remarkable Red Tsingy along the way. Skirt the Amber Mountain massif and climb the foothills to the village of Joffreville. Settle into your ecolodge bungalows.

    Day 11: Visit to Amber Mountain Park
    Hike through the lush forest of Amber Mountain Park, home to tree ferns, palm trees, orchids, and exotic species. See waterfalls, crater lakes, and Malagasy wildlife, including lemurs, chameleons, and colourful birds. Enjoy a picnic lunch and hike back to your lodge in the afternoon.

    Day 12: Diego Suarez to Antananarivo
    Enjoy a free morning before transferring to Diego Suarez for your flight back to Antananarivo.
