What you can expect

  • Visit the Hobbiton Film Set from Auckland on a Tripadvisor Best of the Best 2026 tour.     At Shire’s Rest, your guide collects your tickets, then you board a green Hobbiton bus for the official 2.5-hour guided tour of the 12-acre film set. Walk past 44 hobbit holes and the gardens of the Shire, see Bag End, and hear how The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films were made. The tour finishes with a drink at the Green Dragon Inn, included in your ticket.

    After the tour, you have time to buy lunch or souvenirs at Shire’s Rest. Then relax on the drive back to Auckland. You arrive back at about 7 pm.
