Our adventure begins early in the morning with pick-up directly from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 3:00 a.m. by our professional guide. You will then travel in comfortable tourist transport towards the Andean community of Cusipata.
After approximately two hours, we arrive in Cusipata, where we enjoy a buffet breakfast. Once breakfast is finished, we continue our journey towards the highlands, enjoying views of traditional Andean communities, mountains, grasslands, streams, and herds of alpacas and llamas.
During the journey, we pass by Lake Sibinacocha, where we make a short stop to stretch our legs, relax, and enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery. This brief break also provides an opportunity to take photographs of the lake before continuing towards Puerto Cáliz.
After the stop, we continue by vehicle through the remote high-Andean landscape until reaching Puerto Cáliz, the final point accessible by road and the starting point of our hike to the Quelccaya Glacier.
From Puerto Cáliz, we begin approximately a 50-minute hike along a moderate trail towards the Quelccaya Glacier. The route offers impressive views of the surrounding mountains and glacial landscape.
Upon arrival, we have time to appreciate the glacier, explore the surroundings, and take photographs. If conditions are suitable and access is permitted, the guide may indicate nearby natural ice formations or caves that can be safely visited. Access to these areas depends on current glacier and weather conditions.
After the visit, we hike back for approximately 50 minutes to Puerto Cáliz, where our transport will be waiting.
We then return to Cusipata, where we enjoy a buffet lunch prepared with local ingredients. After lunch, we continue our return journey to Cusco, arriving approximately between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., with drop-off near Plaza de Armas. Arrival time may vary depending on road and traffic conditions.
