Your day begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Relax in comfortable tourist transport as you travel to Cusipata or Pitumarca, the gateway to the spectacular Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). Enjoy a tasty buffet breakfast with local products and use the bathrooms before continuing to the quad bike base.
Once there, your professional instructor will give you a safety briefing and show you how to ride your quad bike. No previous experience is needed. The automatic ATVs are easy to handle, and your instructor will be with you throughout the ride.
Then, enjoy an exciting 40-minute quad bike ride through the breathtaking high-Andean landscapes of Cusco. Follow mountain trails surrounded by snow-capped peaks, rolling hills, alpacas, and panoramic views of the Andes.
When you reach the upper base, take a short 150-meter walk of about 5 minutes to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca), located at 5,036 metres (16,522 feet) above sea level. Take your time to admire the mountain’s vibrant mineral colours, explore the area, and capture unforgettable photos.
With an early departure, you can reach Rainbow Mountain before the busiest hours, giving you more time to enjoy the scenery and take photos in a more peaceful setting. You may also meet local families dressed in colourful traditional clothing and take memorable photos with llamas and alpacas.
For an even more authentic experience, you can optionally enjoy a welcome drink such as coca tea or coffee, followed by a traditional alpaca chicharrón prepared by local residents in the heart of the Andes.
Your well-being is important throughout the experience. Your guide is trained to assist with possible altitude-related difficulties and carries a first-aid kit and emergency oxygen, available at no additional cost.
After enjoying Rainbow Mountain, return along the same route with another 40-minute quad bike ride to the base. Then continue to Cusipata or Pitumarca for a delicious buffet lunch featuring local products. Vegetarian options are available, as well as hot water to prepare coca tea, muña tea, or other herbal infusions.
During lunch, you may meet local community members dressed in traditional clothing. If you did not have the chance to take photos with llamas and alpacas at Rainbow Mountain, you will have another opportunity here.
Finally, relax on the journey back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 4:00 PM, depending on your selected departure time. Your experience ends with drop-off near Cusco’s Plaza de Armas.
