Enjoy a shared sunrise experience at Pico do Arieiro, one of Madeira’s most iconic mountain viewpoints. Travel above the clouds to watch the first light of day from 1,818 metres above sea level, surrounded by some of the island’s most striking mountain scenery.
This experience is available in Basic, Standard and Premium options. Please check your selected option carefully before booking, as inclusions, pickup arrangements and flexibility vary.
All options include the sunrise experience at Pico do Arieiro. The Basic and Standard options are transport-only sunrise experiences, while the Premium option also includes breakfast and a Paradise Valley levada walk in Camacha for guests looking for a fuller morning experience.
The Basic option is best suited to guests who are comfortable using designated meeting points and do not require rescheduling flexibility. The Standard option is ideal for guests who want a transport-only sunrise experience with greater flexibility and pickup/drop-off within the defined pickup areas, or who prefer to have breakfast later at their hotel or in Funchal. The Premium option is best for guests who want to combine sunrise, breakfast and a scenic levada walk in one outing.
This experience does not include the PR1 Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo hike.
The Premium option includes a Paradise Valley levada walk in Camacha, not the PR1 mountain hike.
Mountain weather can change quickly, and clear sunrise views cannot always be guaranteed. The activity normally operates when access is open and conditions are safe. If conditions at Pico do Arieiro are not favourable, an alternative sunrise viewpoint may be used where appropriate.
For added peace of mind in uncertain mountain conditions, selected options may offer a Weather Retry add-on. This allows one rebooking to another available date if conditions on the day seriously affect the experience, subject to availability and the selected option or add-on terms. This applies only in cases such as severe fog, very limited visibility, or official weather-related access restrictions. Normal mountain cloud, partial cloud cover, or changing conditions do not qualify.
Please bring warm clothing, as temperatures at Pico do Arieiro can be much lower than in Funchal before sunrise. Toilet and restaurant facilities at the summit may be limited or closed during the early morning, so please plan accordingly before departure.
This is a practical and memorable way to experience one of Madeira’s most famous sunrise locations, with options designed for different budgets, comfort levels and travel styles.
