Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Kandy. First, travel to the remarkable Ambuluwawa Tower, an architectural and spiritual landmark that offers panoramic 360° views of misty hills and valleys. Climb to the top of the spiral tower for an unforgettable perspective of central Sri Lanka before continuing your drive towards Nallathanniya, the starting point of the Adam’s Peak pilgrimage trail.
Upon arrival, relax at a nearby guesthouse and prepare for your nighttime hike. As night falls, begin the ascent of Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada) — a sacred mountain revered by Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, and Muslims alike. The hike typically begins around midnight, following a well-lit path lined with small rest stops and tea stalls. Walk at your own pace , taking in the peaceful atmosphere and starry night sky.
Reach the summit by early morning to witness one of Sri Lanka’s most magical sunrises, with golden rays spreading across the mountains and valleys below. After soaking in the views and serenity of this sacred site, descend gently back to the base, where your driver awaits to take you onward.
Enjoy an route as you travel to Nanu Oya or Ambewela railway station, the gateway to the famous up-country train route.
