Discover the Salar de Uyuni on a 2-night, 1-day tour from La Paz. Enjoy return transport and a guided tour of the salt flats. Explore the eerie Train Cemetery, the small settlement of Colchani, and the top of Incahuasi Island.
Day 1: La Paz to Uyuni
Meet at the terminal bus in La Paz at 20:30 pm for registration. Depart on the bus to Uyuni at 21:00. Enjoy breakfast, a bottle of water, a hot drink, heating, toilets, a polar blanket, Wi-Fi, and a first aid kit on board.
Day 2: Uyuni
Arrive in Uyuni at 7:30. Enjoy free time to buy snacks and water. Then, meet your guide at the office. Start your tour at 10:30 with a trip to the Salar de Uyuni. Visit the eerie Train Cemetery, located on the outskirts of Uyuni.
Next, visit the small settlement of Colchani, where you can find handicrafts made from salt and textile art made from llama and alpaca wool. Take pictures while navigating the vast white expanse of salt, wade the “Ojos de Agua Salada”, and visit a hotel made entirely of salt that is currently used as a museum-restaurant.
After a morning of exploration, enjoy lunch on the way. Then, hike to the top of Incahuasi Island to see giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. If you're visiting during the rainy season (January to March), you won't be able to access Incahuasi Island.
Take your time to organise your group to take fun photos distorting perspective and proportion on the blinding white surface of the salt flat. Finally, head to a large area to watch a beautiful sunset over the salt flat, spreading its dazzling colours all over the Salar de Uyuni, and enjoy it with a glass of wine.
Return to Uyuni between 19:15 and 19:45. Head to the bus office on your own at 20:30. Depart on the bus to La Paz at 21:00.
Day 3: Uyuni to La Paz
Arrive in La Paz between 6:15 and 6:35.
