What you can expect

On this private day tour, you will delve into the history of one of the most significant battles of World War II, the Battle of the Bulge. Accompanied by a local, certified guide, you will follow the path of General George Patton, whose leadership played a crucial role in securing the Allied victory, visiting key sites along the way.

The day begins with a visit to the Luxembourg American Military Cemetery and Memorial, the final resting place for many of the US soldiers who lost their lives in the battle. General Patton himself, who passed away shortly after the war, is also buried here, as per his wishes.

From there, the tour continues to the former site of the Diekirch Brewery, now home to the Luxembourg National Museum of Military History. This museum is regarded as one of the best in Luxembourg for learning about World War II.

Next, the tour takes you to the General Patton Memorial in Ettelbruck, the town that Patton’s Third Army liberated on Christmas Day in 1944.

Heading further north, near Wiltz, you will visit the “Schumanseck Remembrance Trail,” a significant location in the Battle of the Bulge. This trail marks the spot where American forces broke through German defences, liberating both Luxembourg and Belgium from occupation.

After hiking the trail, the tour will proceed to Bastogne, where you will explore the Bastogne War Museum, the Bastogne WWII Memorial, and the Bastogne War Rooms.

At the end of the day, you will be transported back to your hotel.
