9:45 am | Canoe ride on Lake Atitlán and experience with the tulares plant
In Santiago Atitlán, you'll have a unique experience when you embark on a traditional canoe, connecting with the essence of Lake Atitlán, considered one of the most beautiful in the world. As you enter its crystal clear waters, you'll feel the calm of paddling gently, surrounded by imposing volcanoes and a natural landscape that inspires peace and wonder at every moment.
During this adventure, you'll not only enjoy the serenity of the lake, but you'll also participate in a cultural and ecological encounter. You'll learn about the importance of tulle, an aquatic plant that's vital for the conservation of the ecosystem and essential in the daily life of communities. You'll learn about its planting, the difference between the female and male tulle, and you'll hear the storey of the Tuleros Committee, guardians of this aquifer plant that protect its balance and promote its sustainable use.
Through the stories and knowledge of local guides, you'll discover how tulle is transformed into handicrafts and ecological products, reflecting the creativity and deep relationship between people and their environment.
