Leave Porto on a private full-day journey combining the landscapes of the Douro Valley with the traditional-method sparkling wines of Távora-Varosa.
After hotel pickup in Porto, travel in a premium private vehicle with your tourism-certified guide-driver. The day begins with a scenic drive towards Lamego, where the route opens with cultural context before continuing into wine country.
Stop at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies, one of the region’s most recognisable landmarks. Take in its baroque architecture, elevated setting, and connection to the historic hinterland of the Douro. When the pace allows, continue with a concise stop at Lamego Cathedral for additional context on the city’s Romanesque and Gothic layers.
From Lamego, travel towards Ucanha and the Távora-Varosa wine region, known for refined sparkling wines made by the traditional method. Walk through the medieval village of Ucanha and see its fortified bridge and tower over the Varosa River.
You may then choose an optional morning sparkling wine experience at Murganheira, including a guided cellar visit and 4 flutes of Classic and Reserve Espumante. This optional visit is not included in the base price and is subject to availability.
Continue towards Peso da Régua along the scenic N222, one of the most memorable roads through the Douro landscape. Before lunch, stop near the Bagaúste Dam and riverfront area for a short riverside walk and a different view of the Douro as both scenery and working waterway.
Lunch is intentionally flexible and not included. Choose free time in the Peso da Régua area, request a traditional restaurant, or add an optional winery lunch with pairing wines, subject to availability.
In the afternoon, shape the experience around your preference. Choose one optional partner experience such as a Douro winery visit and tasting, a Port-focused tasting, a heritage-led wine visit, or a 1-hour rabelo boat cruise from Régua quay. A private rabelo cruise may also be available for guests who prefer a quieter river experience.
The day ends with a comfortable private return drive to Porto and hotel drop-off in the early evening.
