Guided Walk from Calabaceira to Cidade Velha with Local Coffee Break
Enjoy an authentic experience combining Cape Verdean nature, culture, and history, with a guided walk and a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cidade Velha.
Your day begins with a pick-up by your guide and driver at your hotel in Praia or at the cruise port, where you will receive a warm welcome and a brief overview of the programme.
You will then travel to the small, welcoming village of Calabaceira, located in the hills above Cidade Velha. Upon arrival, you will be invited to enjoy a coffee break with a local family, which will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about Cape Verdean customs and rural lifestyle.
Then, the guided hike begins along scenic trails that connect Calabaceira to Cidade Velha. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking natural landscapes overlooking the ocean and the surrounding valleys, discover the diversity of the local flora, including endemic plants, hear stories about rural life and the region’s traditions, and learn about the historical context of Cape Verde’s former capital.
You will visit a local distillery and enjoy a tasting of the famous traditional grog. (Optional & additional €2 per person)
Once you have arrived in the Old Town, you will visit the famous Rua Banana, one of the first streets built by the Portuguese colonizers.

At the end of the experience, you will be transferred back to your hotel or to your starting point in the city of Praia.
