The adventure kicks off early with the exciting ferry crossing between the islands of São Vicente and Santo Antão. For about an hour, you'll be able to take in the deep blue of the Atlantic and the magnificent views of the two islands moving away and approaching on the horizon.

⛰️ Arrival in Porto Novo – First Impressions

When you get off at Porto Novo, you'll immediately feel the contrast between São Vicente and Santo Antão: an island of towering mountains, lush nature, and traditions that are very much present in everyday life.

Estrada da Corda – A masterpiece on the mountain

Climbing the famous Estrada da Corda is one of the tour's highlights. It's a historic road that winds through the mountains, offering breathtaking views of deep valleys, green peaks, and picturesque villages.

Vale do Paúl – The Green Heart of Santo Antão

Continuing your journey, you'll arrive at the legendary Vale do Paúl, considered the most fertile and beautiful valley in Cape Verde.

• You'll see tropical landscapes, plantations of sugar cane, coffee, bananas, papaya, and other tropical fruits.
• Light hikes allow you to get in touch with nature and local farmers.
• You can learn about the artisanal production of grogue (sugar cane brandy), with a tasting included.

Ribeira Grande and Historic Villages

In the Ribeira Grande region, you'll discover charming and traditional small villages.

• Villages like Ponta do Sol (with its old pier and ocean views) and Fontainhas (famous for its colourful houses embedded in the mountain, already considered one of the most beautiful villages in the world).
• Get in touch with local life, traditions, Cape Verdean hospitality, and the music you'll find on every corner.

Regional Lunch

A break to savour the island's typical cuisine: fresh dishes based on fish, goat, corn, and cassava, accompanied by tropical fruits from the region. Also, an opportunity to taste the famous grogue de Santo Antão.

Head back to Porto Novo

In the late afternoon, you'll head back to Porto Novo, again via Estrada da Corda or the coastal road (depending on the day's conditions and itinerary), allowing you to enjoy one last spectacle of dramatic landscapes between sea and mountain.

Return crossing to São Vicente

The journey ends with the ferry ride back to São Vicente, taking with you intense memories of the landscapes, flavours, and culture of Santo Antão – the true Magic Island.
