We invite you to Vannøya — an island far out on the edge of the Norwegian Sea, where we grew up. Life out here has always been shaped by the ocean: by the fish that come with the currents, the winds that shape the land, and the deep sense of freedom that comes from living between mountain peaks and open sea.

We’ll leave the city behind and travel across the fjord to this island, where dramatic mountains meet the open sea. Along the way, you’ll see vast coastal landscapes — the sharp ridges of Vanntinden, the islands of Helgøy and Nordkvaløya, and the wide view towards Hammerfjorden and Nord-Fugløya. You’ll hear the sounds that define this place: waves, seabirds, and the quiet that settles over you when you step away from noise and traffic. And you’ll feel the air — salt, seaweed, and something raw that stays with you.

The day moves at a quiet pace. We’ll visit a traditional fishing village, share stories of coastal life, and hike a short trail to a panoramic viewpoint over the Barents Sea. We’ll end the day at a white-sand Arctic beach, where we gather around a simple warm meal and let the wind and sea set the rhythm. No rush. No schedule.

But more than what you see, we want to share something deeper: why people choose to live out here — in the wind, in the silence, in the light. Why they are proud of their island, and why we are too.
