Monastere de Cimiez

The Convent of Notre-Dame de Cimiez is located on the hill of Cimiez and belongs to the Franciscan monastic order. This religious complex consists of three sites: the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady with its prayer room, monastic living quarters and outbuildings; a marvellous monastery garden with a rose garden and a beautiful view of Nice; and the cemetery where A. Matisse and other famous residents of the city are buried.
Castle Hill of Nice

The Castle of Nice was a military citadel. Built on top of a hill, it stood overlooking the bay of Nice from the 11th to the 18th centuries. It was besieged several times, notably in 1543 and 1691, before being taken by French troops in 1705 and finally destroyed in 1706 on the orders of Louis XIV.
