Overview

If you only have one full day in Lebanon — make it this one. This ambitious private tour from Beirut packs three of the country's most extraordinary landmarks into a single day — a day that begins among the greatest Roman temples on earth, descends into one of the world's most spectacular cave systems, and ends in one of the oldest cities ever built.
At Baalbek, you will stand inside a temple larger than the Parthenon, beside stones heavier than anything a modern crane can lift. At Jeita Grotto, you will glide by boat through an underground world of ancient rock formations that no human hand created. In Byblos, you will walk streets that have been walked for 7,000 years — past Phoenician tombs, Roman columns, and a Crusader castle built from stones recycled across millennia. Three completely different worlds, one unforgettable day.

Activity itinerary

Beirut (Pass by)

7:30 AM — Departure from Beirut Your private guide and driver collect you from your Beirut hotel and head east on the Damascus highway — climbing through the Lebanese mountains as the Bekaa Valley opens dramatically below, stretching between two mountain ranges towards the horizon.

Stone of the Pregnant Woman

  • 20m
Before the temples, stop at the ancient Roman quarry where the Stone of the Pregnant Woman still lies exactly where it was cut 2,000 years ago — a single limestone block 21 metres long and weighing an estimated 1,000 tonnes, never moved, never finished. Standing beside it reframes everything you are about to see at the temples. If this is what was left behind in the quarry, what did they actually use?

Temples of Baalbek

  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket not included
Enter the greatest Roman temple complex on earth. The Temple of Jupiter stands on Trilithon stones each weighing over 800 tonnes — the largest dressed stones in human history, heavier than anything modern engineering can lift. Six of its original 54 columns still reach 22 metres into the sky. The Temple of Bacchus next door is larger than the Parthenon in Athens and almost entirely intact — a complete Roman temple standing as it stood two thousand years ago. The circular Temple of Venus completes a complex that has outlasted every empire that built, conquered, and worshipped here. Your guide brings every layer of this extraordinary storey to life.

Jeita Grotto

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
From the colossal scale of Baalbek, descend into an entirely different kind of wonder. Jeita Grotto is a UNESCO tentative World Heritage Site and a top-five finalist in the New 7 Wonders of Nature — a network of limestone caves stretching 9 kilometres beneath the Lebanese mountains. The upper cave reveals a forest of stalactites and stalagmites, some over 8 metres tall, built over millions of years. The lower cave is darker, quieter, more intimate — navigated by silent electric boat along an underground river through chambers where the only sound is water falling somewhere in the dark. After Baalbek's open sky and ancient stone, Jeita feels like another world entirely — because it is.

Byblos Castle

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket not included
Arrive in Byblos as the afternoon light falls on honey-coloured stone — the best time to be here. Continuously inhabited for over 7,000 years, Byblos is one of the oldest cities on earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Crusader castle was built in the 12th century from Phoenician and Roman stones — you can see the recycled columns and carved blocks in its walls if you know where to look. Inside, the archaeological layers tell the full storey: Neolithic foundations, Bronze Age temples, Phoenician royal tombs, Roman streets. Byblos gave the world its alphabet. Its name gave us the word Bible. Your guide makes every stone speak.

Old Souk

  • 30m
Step out of the castle and into the old souk — stone lanes, artisan jewellers, antique dealers, and the smell of fresh coffee from doorways that have been open for generations. Follow it down to the ancient fishing harbour — wooden boats, medieval walls, Mediterranean light — and consider whether this is not the finest place in Lebanon to end a day.

Byblos

  • 1h
Lunch in Byblos — optional A waterfront table, fresh mezze, grilled fish, and the oldest harbour in the world as your view. After a day this full — you have earned it.

Beirut (Pass by)

Return to Beirut — approx. 6:00 PM Your guide and driver take you back to Beirut along the coastal highway — drop-off at your hotel at the end of a day that crossed two mountain ranges, went underground, and walked through seven thousand years of human history.
