What you can expect

Day Trip to Nzulezo – the Village on Stilts
We will pick you up from your hotel in the Cape Coast area between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. The journey west through Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region, takes approximately 4 hours. From Beyin, the village of Nzulezo can only be reached by small boat. The life of this community of around 500 people takes place almost exclusively on boats and on wooden planks made from raffia palm trees, which have been driven into the lake bed on stilts. For centuries, the people here have lived in harmony with nature, engaging in fishing and farming, but modern life has also left its mark. Here, you can get to know the local way of life, have a drink in a pub, or enjoy a freshly grilled fish. You can visit the local primary school or one of the places of worship. If there is still time, in Beyin, you can visit the small Appolonia Fort and learn about the culture of the Nzema people.
After approximately 11–12 hours, you will return to your hotel.
Minimum 1 – maximum 7 people, ages 7–99; not suitable for wheelchair users; only partially suitable for people with walking disabilities (getting on and off the boat)
