You sail from the small boat marina of Funningsfjørður along the western shoreof the fiord. The fiord is narrow and fenced by towering mountains. You sail close to the shore observing bassaltic expressions from a volcanic origin.
You approach the beautiful village of Funningur at the foot of Slættaratindur, the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands. You continue by the promontory of Funningsmúli where you sail into a sea cave where you may be in luck to see grey seals.
You continue further out enjoying the view to the majestic island of Kalsoy. We bring fishing gear and bait and you now get the chance to cast your fishing line. Any number of species of fish may take your bait including Atlantic cod and haddock. If the weather allows we may continue a bit further towards the village of Gjógv with unique scenery.
The tour continues to the other side of the fiord towards the village Elduvík. Keep your eyes open to seabirds such as puffins and sometimes we see porpoise.
You sail into a natural gorge that for centuries has been used as a natural harbour by the locals. Here you enjoy a light meal with water and coffee.
Returning towards the Funningsfjørður marina you sail by the eastern shore where you may observe fulmars nesting in the cliffs close to the water.
