Overview

Gagaku is one of Japan’s oldest traditional performing arts, with a history spanning over 1,000 years.
It was created through the fusion of native Japanese performing arts with music and dances introduced from China and the Korean Peninsula, and has been carefully preserved throughout the centuries.
This performance features two of the most iconic styles of Gagaku:
“Kangen,” an elegant instrumental ensemble performance, and “Bugaku,” a court dance performed in magnificent traditional costumes.
