Conceived in 1989 by renowned Balinese sculptor I Nyoman Nuarta, the monumental project began construction in 1997 and was officially completed in 2018 after nearly three decades of dedication and craftsmanship. The statue was assembled from 754 individual modules, culminating in a breathtaking structure that rises 121 metres above the surrounding landscape.
