Situated in the canyon of the Hvítá River in southwest Iceland, Gullfoss is renowned for its power and beauty, drawing thousands of visitors each year. This impressive waterfall features two dramatic cascades—the first drops 11 metres (36 feet), followed by a second plunge of 21 metres (69 feet) into a rugged, narrow canyon. The sheer force and scale of Gullfoss create an unforgettable experience, making it a must-see for anyone visiting Iceland. One of the most captivating aspects of Gullfoss is how its appearance transforms with the seasons. In winter, the waterfall is often surrounded by ice, turning the landscape into a magical frozen wonderland, while summer months reveal its full flow, with sunlight casting rainbows in the mist.

Our third stop will be at the famous Geysir Geothermal Area, home to the geyser that gave its name to all others worldwide. Here, you’ll witness the iconic Geysir and catch the thrilling eruptions of Strokkur, a smaller but highly active geyser that erupts every few minutes. Our fourth and final stop before returning to Reykjavik will be the historic Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Iceland’s most culturally and geologically significant landmarks. Known as the birthplace of Icelandic democracy, Þingvellir is where the world’s oldest parliament, Althing, first convened in 930. Located in the Rift Valley, this stunning park also offers a unique opportunity to see and walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
