Experience Göttingen on a guided walking tour of the Old Town and learn what makes the city and its university so special. Along the way, you will learn about important milestones in the city's history and hear about well-known figures who lived and worked in Göttingen.
The walking tour starts at Bahnhofsplatz, where one of the city's most unusual monuments awaits you. From there, you'll walk along the old city wall to one of the most impressive Baroque buildings in Göttingen. Next, you'll visit a place with an eventful past: first a monastery, then a school – and later the place where the university was to be founded.
After a short walk, a beautiful view of St. Johannis opens up. Just behind it, you will discover the Old Town Hall. In the market square in front of the Town Hall, you will meet what is probably the most famous “resident” of Göttingen: Gänseliesel, who is considered the most kissed woman in the world.
You will then continue past half-timbered houses to the university auditorium, before the walking tour ends with a view of the Stadthalle and the Deutsches Theatre. An ideal walk to get to know Göttingen in a compact, lively way and with lots of stories.
