What you can expect
Meet your guide at the Port of Cádiz and hop into a 4x4, SUV, or off-road vehicle to begin your journey to the most award-winning White Village in Cádiz, Vejer, the Roman legacy of Baelo Claudia, and the spectacular Bolonia Beach and Dune from the Cueva del Moro Vantage Point.
VEJER DE LA FRONTERA
First stop: Vejer de la Frontera, a town steeped in history and legends. Explore the walled enclosure and learn the legend of the owl. Visit the Church of the Divine Savior to find out why there is a Star of David on one of the church's doors.See the Castle of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia, a former Moorish citadel, and learn about the city's Jewish, Christian, and Muslim past. Hear the storey of Lala Al-Zhora, who, after being expelled from Andalusian lands, set off for North Africa to found Chefchaouen.
Stroll through Vejer, one of the most beautiful White Villages in Andalusia, and stop at the old gates, such as Puerta de la Villa and Puerta de Sancho IV, each with its own fascinating history. Wrap up the tour with a stroll through the most iconic areas of the old town and learn the storey of Juan Relinque and the Hazas de Suerte.
BAELO CLAUDIA
A Roman settlement dating back to the 2nd century BCE, established as a processing plant for the trade of bluefin tuna throughout the Roman Empire, where you can see all the structures built by the Romans over more than five centuries of its existence.
Among many sites, we will visit the necropolis, walls and gates, the Roman road on the Decumanus Maximus, the baths and palaestra, the basilica with the forum, the temples of the Capitoline Triad, the domus or houses of the wealthy, the sanitation systems, the fountains, and the tuna salting area.
Figures such as the Great Emperor Trajan, Junia Rufina, the Egyptian Goddess Isis, and the Discobolus await you. With a pleasant visit to the villa's museum.
BOLONIA BEACH and DUNE
We'll finish by going up to the spectacular vantage point of the Cueva del Moro, from where we'll show you Africa (if the day is clear) across the Atlantic, Bolonia Beach, and its dune, the largest in mainland Spain. You can also see Cañuelo Beach, and we'll show you where the Natural Pools of Claudia are located or the route to Playa del Viento, Valdevaqueros, a surfer's paradise.
