Welcome to the Cathedral of Monreale, one of Sicily's most important architectural jewels, located just a few kilometres from Palermo. Built in the 12th century by the Norman King William II, the cathedral is a masterpiece that combines Arab, Norman, and Byzantine styles.
At the entrance, the majestic façade with its imposing towers welcomes you. The interior is decorated with over 6,000 square metres of beautiful Byzantine mosaics depicting biblical scenes. The Christ Pantocrator in the apse is particularly impressive (currently covered for ongoing restoration).
Next to the cathedral, don't miss the Benedictine Cloister, with its 228 finely carved marble columns and peaceful central garden. Monreale Cathedral is a symbol of Sicily's rich cultural and historical heritage. Every detail tells a storey of art, faith, and power. Enjoy your visit!
