What you can expect

  • Explore Gyumri, the second-largest city in Armenia, on a guided tour that introduces its main historical and cultural landmarks.
The tour begins in Gyumri’s city centre, where you will walk through streets that preserve examples of traditional 19th-century Armenian urban architecture. During the walk, the guide provides information about the city’s history, development, and cultural importance in the Shirak region.
You will visit the Black Fortress (Sev Berd), a circular military structure built in 1834 by the Russian Empire. Constructed from black volcanic stone, it is one of Gyumri’s key historical sites and offers views of the surrounding area.
The itinerary continues to Harichavank Monastery, located outside the city on the slopes of Mount Aragats. The monastery complex includes several churches and historic buildings that reflect its role as a religious and educational centre in medieval Armenia.
Throughout the tour, there will be time for short stops, observation, and photography. The guide will provide explanations at each location to help understand their historical context.
The tour is suitable for travellers interested in Armenian history, architecture, and cultural heritage.
