Pyramids of Giza

  • 3h
  • Admission ticket included
The Pyramids of Giza are a group of ancient monumental tombs located near Cairo, Egypt, built around 2600–2500 BCE during the Old Kingdom. There are three main pyramids: Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) – the largest, originally about 146 metres (481 ft) tall and the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. Pyramid of Khafre – slightly smaller, appears taller because it sits on higher ground. Pyramid of Menkaure – the smallest of the three. They were built as royal tombs for pharaohs and aligned with remarkable astronomical precision. Construction involved millions of limestone blocks, moved using ramps, sleighs, and coordinated labour—likely skilled workers, not slaves. The site also includes smaller pyramids, temples, causeways, and the Great Sphinx, which is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. They remain a powerful symbol of ancient Egyptian engineering, religion, and belief in the afterlife.

Panoramic view of the Pyramids

  • 30m
The Panoramic Viewpoint at the Giza Pyramid Complex is the best spot to see all three pyramids—Great Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Khafre, and Pyramid of Menkaure—in one breathtaking view. Located on higher ground in the desert, it offers excellent photo opportunities, especially at sunrise and sunset, and is a popular stop during tours of the Giza Plateau.

Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu)

  • 30m
The Great Pyramid of Khufu is the largest pyramid in Egypt, built for Pharaoh Khufu around 2560 BCE. It is the oldest and only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World, originally standing about 147 metres tall. Located in Giza, it remained the tallest human-made structure for nearly 3,800 years.

Khafre's Pyramid

  • 30m
The Pyramid of Khafre is the second-largest pyramid at Giza, built for Pharaoh Khafre around 2570 BCE. It is about 136 metres (446 ft) tall today and is famous for the remaining smooth limestone casing near its apex. It stands beside the Great Sphinx of Giza, which is generally believed to have been built during Khafre’s reign.

Menkaure Pyramid

  • 30m
Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three main pyramids at Giza, built for Pharaoh Menkaure around 2510 BCE. Originally about 65 metres (213 ft) high, it is known for its lower courses of red granite casing. Despite its smaller size, the pyramid showcases high-quality craftsmanship and forms part of the famous Giza pyramid complex alongside the pyramids of Khufu and Khafre.

Valley Temple of Khafre

  • 30m
The Valley Temple of Khafre was built for Pharaoh Khafre around 2570 BCE. Located near the Great Sphinx of Giza, it was used for royal rituals and the mummification process before burial. The temple is famous for its massive limestone blocks and polished red granite pillars, showcasing the remarkable craftsmanship of ancient Egypt.

Great Sphinx

  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a massive limestone statue located beside the Pyramids of Giza. It has the body of a lion and the head of a human, symbolising strength and wisdom. Built around 2500 BCE, it is commonly believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. It measures about 73 metres (240 ft) long and 20 metres (66 ft) high, making it the largest monolithic statue in the world. The Sphinx likely served as a guardian figure, protecting the pyramid complex. Its missing nose is often surrounded by myths, but historical evidence suggests it was damaged centuries ago by erosion or human action. Over time, the statue was repeatedly buried by sand and later excavated and restored. The Great Sphinx remains one of the most mysterious and iconic monuments of ancient Egypt.
