What you can expect

The weavers' houses at Weberstraße 20/21 and the kitchen garden pavilion from 1749, which was moved to the Lindener Berg in 1913, have been preserved from the courtly period. The founding of factories began with (lime) Johann Egestorff. With the machine and textile industry, Linden developed from the “most beautiful village in the Kingdom of Hanover” to a pure workers' quarter. It was not until the annexation by Prussia in 1866 that the area of the royal kitchen garden became free, on which the freight station was built and a middle-class residential area developed around Lichtenbergplatz.

You will experience the kitchen garden, which used to serve as a garden to supply the royal family.

The Ihme centre is an “eyesore” for many Hanoverians and at the same time arouses a strong interest among many young people (also in relation to the brutalist construction method)

The Faust cultural centre houses the former Werner & Ehlers bed factory. Today the site is used for concerts, exhibitions, readings, etc.

On the Nedderfeldstraße you can immerse yourself in an area with graffiti art and numerous pubs. Right next to it you can find out more about one of the first arthouse cinemas in Germany: the Apollo cinema.

The “Limmern” is very popular on Limmerstraße with a high density of kiosks, many restaurants and cafés
