Even the ride up to the majestic castle on the historic mountain railway is an experience in itself. Once at the top, you will be greeted by the imposing ruins on the Königstuhl – a place full of stories, myths, and architectural masterpieces.
As you walk through the impressive gate tower, the castle courtyard opens up with its fascinating mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Here, over 600 years of history come to life: we take a look at the magnificent Friedrichsbau and the artistically decorated Ottheinrichsbau – and tell exciting stories about the electors, wars, and fires that have shaped the castle.
Another highlight: the Pharmacy Museum, which displays a unique collection of medical artefacts from past centuries.
