Soap, Olive Oil, Wine & Raki Experience in Peza Valley
Leave the busy coastline behind and discover the authentic flavours and traditions of Crete on this small-group journey through the beautiful Peza Valley. Over the course of approximately 4–4.5 hours, you'll visit family-run businesses where generations of local producers continue crafting soap, olive oil, wine, and raki with the same passion and knowledge passed down through the years.
Your experience begins at a traditional olive oil soap workshop just outside Heraklion. Surrounded by olive groves, you'll learn how natural ingredients, local herbs, and pure olive oil are transformed into handmade soaps using techniques that have been preserved for generations. From there, you'll travel into the heart of the Peza Valley to visit a local olive mill, where you'll discover the journey from olive grove to bottle and enjoy a guided tasting of premium extra virgin olive oils.
The final stop takes you to a family-owned micro-winery and traditional raki distillery. Here, you'll explore the winery facilities, learn about indigenous Cretan grape varieties, and gain insight into both winemaking and raki production. The visit concludes with a tasting of three locally produced wines and one traditional raki, offering a true taste of Crete's rich agricultural heritage.
This relaxed half-day experience is designed for travellers who want to connect with the island beyond its beaches and archaeological sites. Through authentic producers, genuine hospitality, and local flavours, you'll discover the traditions that continue to shape everyday life in Crete—without crowds, scripts, or tourist performances. Just real people sharing what they do best.
