Description

Witness the legacy of Sir Stamford Raffles – founder of modern Singapore – and explore the island's colonial history. Indulge in an extravagant afternoon tea at the iconic Fullerton Hotel Singapore and cruise along the scenic Singapore River on a bumboat.

Leave your hotel to explore the history of Singapore, starting with a visit to the Raffles' Landing Site at Singapore River, where Sir Stamford Raffles is believed to have first stepped ashore in 1819. Discover the city's colonial history as you pace from kucinta cats to river merchants, passing by some of the most beautiful bronze sculptures erected along the river bank.

Continue to the majestic Fullerton Hotel Singapore for an elegant afternoon tea. Experience 3-tier tea served in The Courtyard, under the bright sunlit glass ceiling. Afterward, take a chance for a walk at the Fullerton Heritage Gallery before you make a stop at the colonial-style Red Pillar Post Box, the country's general post office in the early 20th century.

Later, board a bumboat for a relaxing cruise along the Singapore River and enjoy scenic views of the colonial buildings and the towering skyline of the modern business district. Judy was a wonderful guide. She had great knowledge about history of Singapore and its current situation and position in the world. Highest recommendation.

The tour went smoothly as the guide, Christopher, adapted to the weather conditions rearranging the schedule which ensured we avoided rain whilst on the external parts of the tour. The boat ride and the walking sections of the tour were informative. The venue for the afternoon tea was great made better by music provided by a harpist. The tea itself was rather imbalanced with more sweet offerings than savoury. Unlimited access to further helpings helped to offset this. The scones were not up to scratch, they were stodgy, not light and crumbly.

Joyce our tour guide was very informative and the tour was a great way to look back in Singapore’s colonial past. The high tea was amazing and we had a harpist play us lovely songs at the fullerton hotel! Would definitely recommend it!
