The “Village Revitalisation Project” was created in response to feedback from international visitors who expressed a desire to learn more about Japanese culture and participate in cultural experiences. Located about an hour from Himeji Castle, this area is a rare and precious place that preserves traditional rural landscapes and shrines.
Currently, due to the challenges of an ageing population and declining birth rates, the local primary school is facing the threat of closure. Through this project, you can participate in revitalising the village while experiencing Japanese culture, offering something unique compared to typical tours.
After visiting Himeji Castle and Koko-en Garden, enjoy a lunch plan that introduces you to local food culture. Following that, you'll have the opportunity to experience various traditional Japanese arts, including Nihon Buyo (Japanese dance), Shamisen, Koto, and Shakuhachi, which vary daily. You will also visit a sake brewery to learn about traditional sake production and enjoy tastings.
We warmly invite you to join the “Village Revitalisation Project” and help shape the future of this village together. We look forward to your participation!
