Overview

At the foot of Le Morne mountain, the stables are located between the grey of the mountainous rock, the white sand beach and the verdant nature. The team is organised around the Director, who has been practising leisure riding for 20 years. For your pleasure in complete safety, the horses are trained and monitored by professionals who have an important track record in show jumping and dressage.

Elegantly situated in the South part of Mauritius, Ruben Restaurant offers Mauritian Cuisine with inventive and alluring flavours. The food are made from fresh ingredients that are sourced locally. Enjoy a mouth-watering dish in a Mauritian style, in an ambient atmosphere.

Slavery is deeply embedded in the history of Mauritius, as it was once a part of the far-reaching and complex network of the international slave trade. Systems of slavery had existed in the islands of the Indian Ocean since before colonisation and the societies of the Indian Ocean came into being at difficult times through ancient slave trades and migrations of population from African, Asia and Europe. Mauritius was one among the Indian Ocean countries which has played a major strategic role in the industry of slave trade in the Indian Ocean. The initiative of creating this monument purposefully at the foot of The Morne Brabant mountain highlights the importance of the country in the slave trade, at the regional level and powerful significance of the Le Morne Cultural Landscape World Heritage Site, as a focal place for commemoration of the abolition of slavery. Mauritius is known to be the fourth country where monuments were created.
