What you can expect
Day 1: Cusco - Santa María
At 6 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and set off for Ollantaytambo. Once we've arrived, we'll ascend the Malaga Pass and then head to a lodge in Santa María where you'll have lunch, dinner and a good night's sleep.
Day 2: Santa María - Santa Teresa
After a tasty breakfast in the lodge in Santa María, we'll walk across the Vilcanota River using its foot bridge.
We'll then have lunch in a local family home before heading to the Cocalmayo open-air hot spring pools. After a relaxing dip, we'll go to the village of Santa Teresa to have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes
Good morning! We'll have breakfast at the lodge in Santa Teresa and take a 2-hour guided walk to the banks of the Urubamba River. After strolling across the footbridge, we'll go to the village of Hidroeléctrica for lunch.
Depending on your booking, we'll travel to Aguas Calientes from Hidroeléctrica by train or on foot. If we hop on a train, it'll only take around 45 minutes. If we walk, it'll take around 2 hours.
Once we've arrived in Aguas Calientes, we'll go to a local hotel to have dinner and get some rest.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu
Depending on when our entrance time is to Machu Picchu, we'll set off on our hike up to Machu Picchu, which will take around 2 hours and 30 minutes.
When we reach Machu Picchu, we'll take a 2-hour 30-minute guided tour around its magnificent archaeological site.
In the afternoon, you'll return to Aguas Calientes either on foot or by bus, arriving 30 minutes before the departure time of the train that'll take you back to the city of Cusco.
