Overview

This is more than a sightseeing trip to Cameron Falls. It is a thoughtfully hosted women-only day designed around comfort, connection, exceptional food, and the freedom to experience the Ingraham Trail without rushing.

Your day begins at a favourite local café before travelling through some of the Northwest Territories’ most beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you will explore Cameron Falls, enjoy scenic lakes and viewpoints, and take time to notice the small details that make the North unforgettable.

A beautifully prepared picnic spread is included at Cameron Ramparts, followed later by an early dinner at a locally owned Yellowknife restaurant. With a maximum of five guests, the experience feels personal and welcoming, making it especially well suited to solo women travellers, friends, and conference visitors.

Every departure is slightly different depending on the priorities of the guests, whether it's taking pictures, picking berries, or relaxing by the water.

Activity itinerary

Sundog Trading Post

  • 30m
Our day begins with a relaxed coffee and snack stop at Sundog Trading Post, Birchwood Coffee Ko, or another favourite local café depending on seasonal availability and operating hours. This first stop gives everyone a chance to settle in, meet the guide, enjoy something warm or refreshing, and ease into the day before we leave the city behind. Instead of rushing straight onto the road, we begin slowly, with good coffee, a light bite, and a moment to connect. Sundog Trading Post is a welcoming local stop with northern character, making it a lovely place to begin an Ingraham Trail adventure. Depending on the day, we may enjoy coffee, tea, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, or other café favourites before setting out towards lakes, waterfalls, forest, and Canadian Shield landscapes. This stop helps set the tone for the day: relaxed, thoughtful, comfortable, and unhurried. Once everyone is ready, we’ll continue out of Yellowknife and begin our scenic drive along the Ingraham Trail.

Ingraham Trail

  • 2h
The Ingraham Trail is one of the most scenic routes in the Northwest Territories, stretching east from Yellowknife through a remarkable landscape of lakes, forest, waterfalls, and ancient Canadian Shield rock. This beautiful wilderness road offers a peaceful introduction to the natural beauty of Canada’s North, with countless opportunities to stop, explore, take photographs, and enjoy the quiet rhythm of the land. Along the way, travellers can experience sparkling lakes, boreal forest, rocky viewpoints, sandy shorelines, and some of the area’s favourite outdoor destinations, including Cameron Falls and Cameron Ramparts. The trail feels both accessible and wild, making it ideal for visitors who want to experience northern nature without a strenuous backcountry adventure. Our time on the Ingraham Trail is relaxed and unhurried, with space to wander gently, enjoy a picnic, notice plants and wildlife, and take in the fresh northern air.

Cameron River Ramparts

  • 1h 30m
Cameron Ramparts is where we slow the day down and enjoy one of the most peaceful stops along the Ingraham Trail. After exploring Cameron Falls, we’ll make our way to this beautiful natural area for a relaxed picnic. The area has a gentle walking trail and picnic space, making it a lovely place to rest, wander, take photographs, and enjoy a beautifully prepared outdoor meal. This stop is designed to feel unhurried and comfortable. Guests can stretch their legs on the easy trail, sit and enjoy the scenery, dip into quiet conversation, or simply take a moment to breathe in the fresh northern air. Enjoy a thoughtful, picture-worthy outdoor picnic with delicious food and time to enjoy the setting. Depending on the season and conditions, we may also look for wildflowers, berries, or interesting rocks. Cameron Ramparts is a gentle and welcoming stop, perfect for guests who want to experience the wilderness without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Cameron Falls Trail

  • 1h 30m
One of the highlights of the Ingraham Trail is our time at Cameron Falls, a beautiful northern waterfall tucked into the boreal forest and ancient rock of the Canadian Shield. We’ll take the trail at a relaxed pace, with time to notice the details along the way: spruce trees, wildflowers, lichens, exposed rock, and the sound of water growing louder as we approach the falls. This is not a rushed hike or a fitness challenge. It is a chance to move gently, breathe deeply, and experience one of the most beloved natural places near Yellowknife. At the falls, there will be plenty of time to take photographs, enjoy the view, listen to the rushing water, and simply be present in the landscape. This stop includes light hiking on natural terrain. Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared for mosquitoes, uneven ground, rocky sections, roots, and changing weather. We move slowly, take breaks as needed, and keep the experience welcoming for beginners.

Yellowknife River Territorial Park Day Use Area

  • 30m
Near the end of the day, you will stop for approximately 30 minutes at the Yellowknife River Day Use Area, a peaceful place to stretch your legs and enjoy one last moment outdoors before returning to the city. Depending on the weather and conditions, you may walk near the river, take photographs, dip your feet in the water, or simply relax and listen to the sound of the current. In warmer weather, this can also be a refreshing place for a quick swim. When fire conditions allow, the stop may include time by a small campfire or a warm drink before heading back to Yellowknife. It is a simple, unhurried pause that gives you time to slow down, breathe in the fresh northern air, and gently close out the outdoor portion of the day.

YK Hidden Gem

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
After a full day exploring the Ingraham Trail, you will return to Yellowknife for a relaxed dinner at Hidden Gem Restaurant, a locally loved spot known for its warm atmosphere and welcoming hospitality. This final stop gives you time to settle in, enjoy a satisfying meal, and reflect on the day with the women in your group. After waterfalls, scenic drives, northern lakes, and a beautiful picnic, dinner offers a comfortable transition back to the city without ending the experience too abruptly. You will have the chance to enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal, share stories, look through photos, and unwind before returning to your accommodation. Depending on the evening and availability, guests may also be able to take advantage of happy-hour offerings. Dinner at Hidden Gem is included and completes the day with good food, easy conversation, and one last taste of Yellowknife hospitality.
