What you can expect
Enjoy Ireland's Premier Cultural Experience at the annual Festival of Folk at Siamsa Tíre - the National Folk Theatre of Ireland! Ireland's leading performers of traditional Irish music, song and dance captivate audiences from all over the world. They transport you back in time, creating an unforgettable evening of Irish heritage and culture brought to life with the best of Irish traditional arts. Celebrating over 50 years of performances, Siamsa Tíre presents original and authentic folk performances in five different productions within the plush, iconic ring-fort theatre and arts centre. It is a guaranteed highlight that visitors never forget and always recommend! Located on the Wild Atlantic Way in Tralee, Co Kerry, Siamsa Tíre is Ireland’s only theatre company dedicated to the preservation and development of the Irish arts and is Ireland's first internationally certified Green Theatre (due to the reductions in its carbon footprint and environmental policies).
These five-star traditional productions are performed by a professional cast all trained in the unique Siamsa style through the National Folk Theatre Training Academy which has been passed on through the generations since the 1700s. They bring passion, wildness and the spirit of Irish people and culture to each performance as they transport visitors to times past in rural and coastal Ireland. They create an unforgettable evening, rich in colour, mesmerising music, song, storytelling, and thrilling Irish dance, immersing guests in Ireland’s cultural and working traditions.
You can even immerse yourself in Irish culture by learning Irish song or dance from the repertoire in workshops with the professional cast from the NFT Training Academy throughout the season.
You can also visit the Siamsa Tíre Galleries – they display the work of artists from Ireland and abroad throughout the year and during the summer season provide a historic display of the National Folk Theatre using photography and memorabilia. Siamsa Tíre has a full theatre bar where drinks and snacks can be pre-ordered for the interval or after the show. From October to April, Siamsa Tíre theatre hosts an extensive theatre programme of touring drama, comedy, music, children's theatre and more. For a treasured cultural experience for young and old, visit Siamsa Tíre.
