This experience takes place in Mazlum's family home in Karsiyaka, a residential area on the Izmir coast where locals actually live: not a studio, not a tourist setup.
You'll be welcomed by Mazlum, often joined by his mother and sister, with tea or coffee and easy conversation before you start cooking. Together you'll prepare traditional Turkish dishes — olive oil-based meze, stuffed vegetables, hearty mains — using fresh ingredients and the kind of techniques that get passed down at the kitchen table rather than in cookbooks.
The pace is relaxed. There's time to ask questions, hear the stories behind each dish, and understand what everyday cooking looks like in an Izmir household. When everything is ready, you'll sit down together and eat what you made.
Recipes are available on the LokalBond Recipes website so you can recreate the dishes at home.
