Cycle along quiet country roads just outside Kampot, through rice fields, farming villages and communities most tourists never visit.
Along the way we'll visit authentic places from everyday life in Cambodia: Buddhist pagodas, a working palm sugar farm, rice farming communities and a Cham Muslim fishing village. Your guide brings it all to life with stories, local legends and explanations of Cambodian history, culture and religion.
At a traditional family farm you'll see how palm sugar is made using methods that haven't changed in generations. In the wet season the rice fields flood and the landscape transforms completely, with farming communities working the paddies.
Lunch is at Vin's home, a wooden house in a village just outside Kampot, built over 120 years ago. Her welcome is as much a part of the experience as the food itself. She makes us a traditional home-cooked Khmer meal with fresh ingredients from the market that morning.
Around 20km in total, the country roads are all flat with almost no traffic, at a relaxed pace with frequent stops. As you ride through the villages, children run out to the road to wave, shout hello and hand out high-fives.
Flat roads the whole way. Frequent drink stops. No hills. Suitable for most fitness levels.
