Discover a different way to meditate in Kyoto—simply by lying down and listening.
Step into a peaceful traditional tatami room and experience a completely private Japanese Sound Bath. A private studio near Kyoto Station is also available as an alternative option.
For 60 minutes, there is nothing to learn, nothing to achieve, and no need to control your thoughts. Simply lie down, close your eyes, and listen with your whole body.
Unlike typical sound baths using Tibetan or crystal singing bowls, this experience is performed exclusively with rare handcrafted Japanese instruments. Their rich overtones fill the room while subtle vibrations can also be experienced through the body.
-Meditation Without Trying to Meditate
You do not need any previous meditation experience. There is no special posture to maintain, no breathing technique to follow, and no need to force your mind to become quiet.
Instead, sound gently holds your attention. As the body begins to relax, attention can naturally settle and the mind may become quieter.
This is the idea behind lying-down meditation: rather than trying to “do” meditation, you allow sound to
guide you towards stillness.
-Inspired by Japanese Stillness
The experience is influenced by the Japanese sensitivity to “ma”—the space and silence between sounds. Here, sound is not constant stimulation. Resonance gradually fades into silence, allowing you to notice both.
More than simple relaxation, Japanese Sound Bath offers a quiet space to step away from sightseeing, screens, schedules, and the constant stimulation of travel.
-Completely Private
Every session is reserved exclusively for you and your group. There are no other guests, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience at your own pace.
The main setting is a traditional tatami room, offering a quiet atmosphere surrounded by Japanese aesthetics. If you prefer a more convenient location, a private studio near Kyoto Station is available as an alternative option.
After the Sound Bath, you will also have an opportunity to experience the Japanese instruments yourself and discover their resonance up close.
The Sound Bath lasts approximately 60 minutes. Please allow approximately 90 minutes in total, including the introduction and time afterwards.
Lie down. Listen. Let the sound do the rest.
