What you can expect

Pick up from your hotel at approximately 8.30am to go directly to Chacaltaya, a mountain with an altitude of 5,300 metres above sea level. More than 80% of the Chacaltaya glacier melted between 1987 and 2007. The glacier was one of the highest in South America. Upon arrival at the refuge, you will have the opportunity to walk to the top of the mountain. You will also be able to appreciate the wonderful view of the Huayna Potosí and Illimani mountains, Lake Titicaca and some parts of the city of El Alto. Going up and observing all the landscapes will take you approximately one and a half hours, then you will go down and get back in the car to leave for the Valley of the Moon. Arrival at 1.30pm at the Valley of the Moon. This valley has a particular rock formation similar to that of the lunar surface. When you are there, observe different types of trees and plants (native to the area), including the San Pedro cactus. The visit lasts approximately one hour. Finally, arrive at your hotel around 4:00 p.m.
