What you can expect

Begin your adventure as the sun rises over the sleepy harbour of Labuan Bajo. Step aboard a traditional wooden Phinisi, the majestic vessel that will be your home for this odyssey. As the engine hums to life and the coastline of Flores begins to recede, the gateway to the Komodo National Park opens wide.

Sail to Kelor Island, a tiny emerald gem rising sharply from the turquoise sea. Take a short but invigorating trek to its peak and be rewarded with a panoramic view that looks like a watercolour painting—a perfect silhouette of neighbouring islands framed by gradient blues. It's the perfect spot to find your sea legs and capture that first iconic photograph.

From Kelor, weigh anchor and glide towards Manjarite Bay. Known for its calm, crystal-clear waters, Manjarite is a snorkeller's sanctuary. Slip into the water and be instantly greeted by a kaleidoscope of soft corals and schools of inquisitive tropical fish. The lack of strong currents here makes it feel like swimming in a massive, natural aquarium.

As the sun reaches its zenith, sail towards the legendary Padar Island. While most islands in the park are known for their shores, Padar is famous for its dramatic topography. The hike to the summit is a rite of passage. Reaching the top, be presented with the world-renowned “Three-Colored Beach” view, where the rugged volcanic hills separate bays of white, pink, and black sand. It is a moment of profound silence, broken only by the wind and the realisation of nature's sheer scale.

To cool down from the hike, navigate to a secluded sandbank. This shifting island of pure white sand appears only when the tide is right. Walking on a thin strip of ivory sand in the middle of the vast ocean provides a surreal sense of isolation and peace. It's a place for “slow travel”—just you, the sun, and the gentle lap of waves.

In the afternoon, head to Manta Point, a cleaning station for the ocean's most graceful inhabitants. With masks on and racing hearts, jump into the blue. Beneath you, the shadows of Manta Rays—some spanning over four metres—glide effortlessly through the current. Watching them “fly” through the water is a humbling experience that stays with you forever.

As the golden hour approaches, move to Turtle Point. Here, the seagrass beds provide a feast for Green and Hawksbill turtles. These ancient mariners are surprisingly relaxed, often allowing snorkellers to float alongside them as they come up for a breath of air before diving back into the deep.

As you sail back towards Labuan Bajo, the sky transforms into a canvas of fiery oranges, deep purples, and soft pinks. Sit on the deck, a cool drink in hand, reflecting on the day. You've climbed volcanic peaks, danced with Mantas, and stood on islands that disappeared with the tide.
