Just 10 minutes from city centre Las Palmas, Playa de La Laja is a little-known spot that is perfect for surfing in peace and quiet. Its volcanic sand seabed, consistent waves, and relaxed atmosphere make this the ideal setting for both your first lesson and for perfecting your surfing skills.
Our experience begins with a welcome, where you’ll meet your instructor and your group. We then do a physical warm-up and a technical briefing on the sand covering safety, posture, paddling and basic technique. Then, it’s time to hit the water! Once there, our certified instructors will be with you at all times, guiding you step by step.
Our approach is 100% hands-on. We want you to be able to stand up, keep your balance, and enjoy the feeling of surfing your first wave. And if you already have experience, we’ll work with you on more technical aspects such as turns, timing, and reading the sea so you can take your surfing to the next level.
We work with small groups to provide personalised instruction tailored to each skill level. We use the exclusive Wavelovers Method, which combines biomechanics, pedagogy, and the psychology of learning to teach you how to surf in a progressive, safe, and fun way.
