➊ Introduction to Japanese Calligraphy (20 min.): You will receive a clear and easy-to-understand introduction to Japanese calligraphy, including its background and the traditional tools used. ➋ Hands-on Calligraphy Experience (70 min.): Choose your favourite kanji character and learn the basic strokes, from how to hold the brush to fundamental brush techniques. You will then create your own original calligraphy artwork on a small shikishi board. ➌ Live Calligraphy Performance (10 min.): Watch a powerful live performance in which a single kanji character is dynamically written on a large sheet of paper, accompanied by Tsugaru shamisen music. ➍ Sword-Drawing Demonstration (5 min.): The instructor, who is also a swordsman, will perform an authentic sword-drawing demonstration. ➎ Photo time (5 min.): Enjoy a photo time with your completed artwork, the large calligraphy piece from the performance and the instructor. ➏ Survey by monitor participants (10 min.): Participants are kindly asked to complete a short survey.
